Smoke tasting graham crackers

Ok. Watching Mavs-Hornets, Game 4. It's halftime. Drinking a glass of Zinfandel. Its a 2006 Edmeades from Mendocino County.
The label says, "with dollops of smoke, graham cracker, chocolate and fruit..."
Now, I don't know what smoke tastes like. And my inexperienced palate hasn't figured out how to discern graham cracker. (Maybe, as NY Times wine writer Eric Asimov blogs, this wine is on Viagra.)
But I know what I know.
I like this wine. Yummmmmmy.

Kevin, where did you pick this wine up? It sounds like it would be right up our alley. Of course, since we've started running last fall, we aren't going through nearly as much wine as we once did.

Oh, and I think I've about given up on the Mavericks chances this year. I fear that this could be then end of an era. Hopefully I am wrong, or at least if I am right, the downturn won't last a decade as the last one did.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your kind comments on my blog. I do like the Edmeades very much. A good price value too. I had a couple of great zins (and zin blends) over the weekend. I'm a big fan of Rombauer. Had their 2004 zin which is fruity and jammy. I also had an Unti zin blend that was excellent. I think you would like both if you like the Layer Cake and Edmeades.

Love the wine and running combination! I've added you to my blog list. I'll be back! Cheers.

kevin,

was that your first zin?! haven't tried edmeades.

there's an old cliche that said you can't go wrong w/a zin that starts w/an "r" - ridge, rosenblum, ravenswood and so on... haha. but then they got too expensive (especially ridge)!

big zins rock!!
