Portland Marathon splits

In airport headed to Phoenix for the new job. Here are my splits. Last mile faster than the first but in between was a whole lot of misery and too much time in the portapotties.

Aww I'm sorry. At least you have an awesome new job on the horizon and at least this is just one race out of many.

Kevin, you will get there. I wonder if these marathon races are just your nemesis "in your head"! You are awesome in training and in any other distance...and I'm not saying you're not awesome in marathons, but you're not making YOUR goal. I can relate...I get soooo up in arms over my races...and they're just ME...I'm not trying to WIN anything! But they are my personal goals...so I feel for you. But history shows that you will analyze this race and improve from it...you have in every marathon you've thus far!! Sorry you missed your goal, but be proud that you ran this and didn't cramp :)! You fixed THAT!

Sometimes you just have a bad day. Don't spend too much time analyzing it. Go to Marathonguide.com and pick another race and try again. You're in great shape now, I wouldn't spend another 12 months training to try again. I've got 4 more races left in 2009.

Hi Kevin, I hope your new job is going great!

Sorry about the marathon! You must feel disappointed, but I agree with the others, don't spend too much time analyzing it. I wonder if you could just run a marathon in a month. Rest up a bit, put in some good runs, so you don't lose all that fitness. All you need is a good day. Consult with your coach. From talking to my coach, this type of stuff happens frequently, and sometimes, after a race that went bad and you just didn't have a chance to leave it all on the course (a 4 hour marathon for you is a jog, really), if you are smart, you can have an amazing race in a month. Just a suggestion.
