So what...

I know it seems like I've dropped off the face of the (blogging) earth, but I have been adjusting to my new job investigating mortgage fraud and have been trying to fit how to run in my new schedule.

And I have been running and in this colder weather, my runs have gone well, but so what...

I ran 13 miles in 1:37 (7:30 pace) this morning, but so what... I don't even come close to that pace when I run marathons. I also averaged around 7:30 for an 8- and a 7-miler last week. But it's like, yeah yeah yeah, where is all this speed and endurance on Marathon Sunday?

I don't know.

maybe if your expectations are lower, you're mind will let you do the job. Kind of when you know your job, but dont seem to be able to do it right when someone is breathing behind your back

Took Elway several tries before he won at the 'big game'. Dude, even A-Rod came outta his slump in October when the games mattered. So ANYthing can happen.

You're gonna figure this out, you're gonna be clutch and you will nail your next marathon. Trust.

don't know if you meant to, but this post made me laugh. I can relate only substitute any other race smaller than the marathon.

It'll match up at some point. Odds are good, right? I hear you on the fitting running in. I haven't run at all in the last 2 weeks. Argh.

Maybe you could do some half marathons to boost your confidence and speed before the next full. Like the DRC Half (Dallas) in November, the White Rock half (Dallas) in December, and 3M (Austin) in January. Then you could do the Austin Marathon with low expectations for time goals because it's so hilly. Just do some stuff for fun for awhile.

If you've ever heard someone say running is 90% mental...they are full of shit. Running is 100% mental. And 100% physical. (Don't sweat the math. ;p)

That said, its amazing how the body will respond if you psyche yourself out. And its often not pleasant. You've clearly got yourself into good shape; I think you should find a "fun" local marathon and see what happens when there are no expectations. Traveling across the country couldn't have helped, especially with the pressure of starting a new job going on too...

Good Luck.

Good post angryrunner. I tried to say what you said, just not so eloquently clear as yours, in his Trying to Add Things Up post. It's SO TRUE: 100% mental. I so relate to Kevin's mental battles...
